    Since this has an R rating of 8 I will need to add a blanket to it to bring it up to code of R-12. Is there a AO Smith blanket for this?

      A.O. Smith does not offer insulation blankets for their water heaters. If you install a blanket, please take the proper precautions and avoid covering any valves or warning labels.

    Hi - can you tell me, on average, how long do these hot water heater last? I know that the warrenty is for 6 years but I am assuming that the hot water heater under normal wear and tear will last approximately 10 years. Please verify.

      The life expectancy depends on a number of things, included usage, water conditions, maintenance (such as draining and flushing the water heater), inspecting and replacing the anode as needed, water pressure, and thermal expansion.
