Description for Beacon Morris K120

Kickspace heaters are the space-saving alternative to hot water baseboard. Designed to fit inconspicuously under a cabinet, in the floor, on or in the wall, kickspace heaters are ideal for hard to heat areas such as foyers, kitchens, and bathrooms.
Hot water from the home's boiler is circulated through the kickspace unit and the fan gently blows heated air into the room. The homeowner simply selects the fan speed, then the unit turns on and off automatically according to heating demand.
Twin-Flo III + kickspace heaters are your ideal solution wherever space is limited:

  • Under Cabinets
  • In Kitchens, Baths, and Foyers
  • Under Stair Risers and Windows

Comments about Beacon Morris K120 Kick Space Heater:

Kickspace heater was mounted at floor level in a 40X30 foot basement that had no insulation. It has a separate zone with its own thermostat. The only complaint, which actually was a compliment, was that it heated the basement so well that they had to adjust their thermostat for the main floor. I plan to use many more of these in other homes for zoning specific rooms that are used more so that the heat in the main house can be set lower.

Easy installation, noise in the fan area can be quite annoying. Really pulls the heat from the loop effectively. Save your money on the low temp TCO, it doesn't work. Overpriced.

I waited a month for a Syracuse dealer to get it. When I called Pex I got it in two days. It solved my cold spot problem. Great product. I wish it was just a little quieter though.

Great heater. Just make sure to get all the needed parts. The Monoflow Tee is a must. I would also suggest a ball valve to be placed between the supply and return tee's, which will help bleed the air from the heater.

Comments about Beacon Morris K120 Kick Space Heater:

We live in N. MN. and have about a 1,200 SQ. FT. sized house with 3 levels. Based on the 43 BTU's per sq. ft. of space the Kitchen/dining/living room area (which is open for two floors) was GROSSLY under heated with about 30 ft. of thin-fin. I bought and installed the K-120 and it works GREAT! My office is directly under the heater and I can barely hear it running upstairs above me on low. We will run it on the low fan setting most of the time and only use High when we want a quick heat up, like in the morning after turning down the heat overnight.
I didn not look, but IF the Installation manual is here to view (or maybe Beacon's OEM site?) I would suggest you read it before purchasing. I needed the Directional Tee I mentioned in Accessories and finding one locally was very challenging AND expensive! I should have ordered it with my original order. I know every installation is different so it's hard to draw parallels, but the other suggestion I would make would is to hook this heater up with Shark-bite style connectors, especially if you are working is a tight area. The time I wasted pulling the directional Tee out and re-soldering because I didn't get it clean enough the first time around cost me HOURS in draining the system and fooling around due to one little leak(in the hardest place to get to in the installation process!). I ultimately cut the Tee out, pulled out the offending connection pieces and re-soldered in my shop. Then I installed the Tee between two Shark-Bites and it all slipped together easily.
Research and plan your connection strategy carefully if you are DIY-ing this. I plumbed in shut offs on both pex connection lines so I could isolate the heater later if need be. Pex shut-off are less than ball valves and connectors. AND don't forget the inline Air-bleeder!

If you are mounting it where it is accessible I would still use sharkbite fittings because the instructions say not to silver solder it.

The unit doesn't have an on/off switch, but does let the homeowner select fan speed. Basically, the unit engages according to heating demand. Adjustment can be made to the direction that the air is forced out, however.

                                                            Lou,
Don't they make wall-mount units? I wasn't looking specifially for one...but I b'lieve I saw them while surfing for the Kick-Plate heater I bought. I guess you probably could install in a wall, but you would need to duct the out-flow away from the floor with a 90 degree duct. The other thing is that at least the K-120 would be too wide to fit between 16 in. centers. The width qouted doesn't include the hook ups, which you could 90 as well.

The square footage is based on heat loss in the room/space. At 180 degree water temperature, the K42 will give you 4,200 BTUs, the K84 will give you 8,400 BTUs, and the K120 will give you 12,000 BTUs.

To properly size a kickspace heater, you must know the BTU load for the area you are heating. Our rough estimate for BTU amount you need is 22,000 BTUs. So with 180 degree water temperature, you would need two K120 units, as each one would produce 12,000 BTUs at the 180 degree temperature.

The final answer depends on the insulation of the room and the water temperature you are using in the product. Around 160F water temp will give a greater output. 180F even better. My unit runs at 160F and keeps the room warm. I have a wall stat that stops the fan at 74F to control the room temp also.
