Description for Beacon Morris K84

Kickspace heaters are the space-saving alternative to hot water baseboard. Designed to fit inconspicuously under a cabinet, in the floor, on or in the wall, kickspace heaters are ideal for hard to heat areas such as foyers, kitchens, and bathrooms.
Hot water from the home's boiler is circulated through the kickspace unit and the fan gently blows heated air into the room. The homeowner simply selects the fan speed, then the unit turns on and off automatically according to heating demand.
Twin-Flo III + kickspace heaters are your ideal solution wherever space is limited:

  • Under Cabinets
  • In Kitchens, Baths, and Foyers
  • Under Stair Risers and Windows

Got this product because new kitchen cabinets did not allow for use of baseboard heating. This heater fits perfectly underneath my sink cabinet. Make sure you cut the floor panel and have access to it from the inside the cabinet to service if needed. Other than that, it so slim that it allowed me to leave the cut out floor right where it is making the storage underneath this cabinet available as designed during original kitchen build. Highly recommend, super quiet and packs a punch with over 9000 BTU if your hot water supply around 175+ F.

The K84 unit will fit best in a cabinet that is 30" wide or larger. The face plate is a little flimsy, so be carefull not to place it where it might get kicked repeatedly. Make sure you are willing to cut out the bottom of the inside cabinet and install a false bottom or you will not be able to service the unit. This is especially true if you have to bleed the system for air.

After having a 'Beacon Morris' K42 in use for over 35 years, it was a no-brainer when it became time for a replacement. Not only did we replace the still operational K42, we added the larger K84 at the further end of the kitchen. Both units are well made and have improvements over the old model. The three way switch is a nice feature, and the units running on low speed are quieter than the old unit, in fact, the only indication of operation is the warm air provided thru the kick base grills. "PexSupply" provided the products I wanted quickly, and at a good price.

Used this to add heat to an underheated family room.

Were foutunate to have space at the end of an existing heat run to mount unit. Surface mounted unit using the available wall cabinet. When the fan is on HI, it's a little noisey but low speed is quiet, and moves enough air. I wish I had known about this product long ago.

I have a good size master bath and was it was the coldest room in the house. The existing baseboard heat was inadequate. We've had some cold nights already this year and needed to turn the heat on. With the new K84 installed, our MB is one of the warmest rooms in the house. The wife loves it.

Using Pex heating tube, and shark bite connectors taking out a 10 foot piece of baseboard and replacing with this was easy, even for someone who is not handy. Only problem I ran into was the aquastat came off the pipe inside the electric. Just had to slide it back on.

Installed this unit to replace a 25 year old similar model. This new unit is almost totally silent when running and appears well made. Pex Supply is also a value leader in pricing. I would suggest making your own connection kit as opposed to buying the supplier kit. I purchased 6 feet of 5/8 ID heater hose and 4 clamps at the local auto parts store for under $10 which allowed me to connect up to hard copper plumbing feed/return, while providing moveable placement of the unit.

I'm in the construction business and found out that this type of heater is a great alternative when baseboard heating is involved. There easily installed ,like the two speed fan option and very quiet even on high setting and no one knows their there. I recommend this product very highly even to doit yourselfers.

The hose kit is an optional item that allows you to make your connections using flexible hose as opposed to hard copper or PEX connections. Depending on your installation (how much room or access you have) the kit can make it easier to install the heater. My company has installed a fair number without the hose kit, but at least a couple would have been easier with it (if we'd known about it at the time). If the piping connections are difficult to access when the heater is in position, having flexible connections can allow you to connect to the piping first, then to the heater and then put the heater into place. Also, if the heater is accessible now but won't be later (it's being installed and a cabinet then installed over it) the hose kit can make any servicing required later a lot easier. If the unit is going into the toe kick of a cabinet and an access panel can be in the bottom of it large enough to expose everything, then the kit shouldn't be needed. But if the access can only expose the heater itself and not the piping, the hose is pretty handy.
Ultimately, it really depends on the details of your installation. The unit will work with or without it and you have to decide whether your specific installation will be better one way or the other.
One other thing, if you are tying this to an existing radiant circuit that uses diverter tees (sometimes called monoflo tees among other things) make sure you have a vent or purge fitting on the heater. If not, your heater may very well end up air-locked and won't circulate. If it's on its own pipe circuit or in a series circuit, that's probably not going to be a problem.
                                                                        Good luck!

The fan will remain on even when the house thermostat turns off the zone circulator so that all of the available heat can be extracted from the unit. You might want to check the attachment of the heat sensor to the copper tubing though. I snugged up the squeeze clamp to connect more tightly to the tubing for a better read of pipe temperature. Too loose of a connection may prevent the fan from coming on as soon and as long as it should.
