                                Comments about Cash-Acme 1/2" x 1/2" Elbow:

These fittings were a lifesaver. I had an under slab leak that I fixed by running the water lines overhead. The problem was that only way I could get to the water supply was to core drill two, two inch diameter, holes through the five inch thick concrete floor and intersect the foam covered copper pipes below. The core drill cut the pipes off and when I pulled them and the foam out I was left with a two inch diameter concrete conduit that ran twelve inches horizontally and turned (zero inch radius) vertical. I had to fit a three-quarter inch and a one-half inch line through each hole. I put the SharkBite elbows on Pex pipe, worked them through horizontally and turned the pipe to face the elbows up. I went up stairs and forced a short length of Pex on each elbow and I had waterlines in the bedroom wall. If there is another way to make that connection I have no idea what it is.

Used in a 1950's old motel with failing plumbing. We're upgrading to Pex as we go, but in a pinch, the part works both with Pex or copper for an immediate solution to whatever problems might arise. And they do here often due to the hardness of the water. As a non-plumber, I love these products -- I don't have to know much to make it all work, no drips, no mess, no problem.

I used these fittings to add a heating zone with PEX tubing to my existing copper pipes. The product was amazing. It took seconds to make a connection and I had no leaks. I was initially concerned because I have a glycol heating system and they tend to be more prone to leaks, but I had none. Other great features are these fittings swivel after they are connected which makes installation much easier, they are easily removed with a tool that cost only $1.50, and they can be reused.

You can also connect 1/2" PEX-AL-PEX directly to most radiant heat manifolds. Use part D4120500 with Uponor TruFLOW manifolds and part MA-50PAP with Rifeng manifolds.

You can keep the insert in the fitting when using copper, but it may cause a very slight flow reduction. SharkBite fittings work with flexible copper, but it's a good idea to keep a straight run of at least a few inches out of the fitting.
