These unions work great! But, they are not wholly copper. Only one end is copper. The other appears to be brass/bronze cast. I would not use this for potable water application. Otherwise, works as intended.

I added a full-flow particle-filter to a hydronic heating system (1930s-vintage gravity piping) that had sat open to the atmosphere for nearly two years. I needed a 1-1/4" sweat union and (believe it or not) my local supply house was out of them. PEX supplied the union [...] Eye-opening. PEX will see more of me.

      If this is a Cello Products Inc. fitting the threaded cast part is bronze, an alloy of copper and tin (not zinc, which would make it brass), so it is not susceptible to dezincification.   It should conform to this standard-----Cast Bronze Threaded Fittings: ASME/ANSI Std. B16.15 - 1985

      No, it is not all copper. It is half brass. Both ends are sweat joints
      (male brass, female copper)and copper pipe will sweat to both ends. Brass
      makes for a better seal at the union.

      In looking at the picture I would have to say that this union is comprised of three pieces as follows: 1ea copper sweat fitting, 1ea bronze retaining nut for the copper sweat fitting, and 1ea threaded bronze female sweat fitting. bronze is a copper alloy made up of copper and tin. They do make brass unions, but I think you would find that all of the union components would be brass.
