It was shipped double boxed so it was very secure from damage. The nuts on the flares were solid and I attached them after a quick wipe with Emory cloth. They worked perfectly! The pipe is insulated well and was very easy to bend. Thanks to you for a fine product at the best price around.

    How do i take the air out of the line?

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

      You will need a vacuum pump with at least one hose that connects the pump to the service port on the mini-split. I would draw the system down for at least half an hour before releasing the vacuum, then releasing a small amount of refrigerant into the system and checking for leaks using a soapy bubble solution at each of the flared fittings.
      The preferable method is to use the vacuum pump and a set of gauges so you can measure the degree of vacuum, then lock down the gauge set closed and wait to see if any vacuum bleeds off. That will determine whether you have any leaks in your flared connections between the indoor wall unit and outdoor condenser/compressor.

      No its not. You need a line set of 3/8 inch for the gas and 1/4 inch for liquid. Your unit should have been supplied with a line set. Look for a line set pre-flared or you will need to rent or borrow a flare tool.

    I need a 15foot, 1/4"LL, 5/8"SL line set for a new 1.5T R410A Goodman central air system install. The units are designed for brazed line set connections. Will This Mini-split, flared line set be acceptable to use in my system? I.e. can I cut the flared ends and directly braze the connections?

      The tubing is made out of level-wound copper. The minimum bend radius is not a listed spec. We would estimate that it would be about 7 times the outside diameter of the copper.

      A:

      Line-sets do not include refrigerant. Refrigerant will not flow through them until both ends are fully hooked up. The outdoor unit of the mini-split system will hold all the refrigerant until the system begins to operate.

      The line sets can be connected to make a longer run. We do not carry the couplings to connect line sets together. The line sets already come insulated and with flared ends. We do sell pipe insulation and it can be found here: http://www.pexsupply.com/Pipe-Insulation-12071000

      These lines are made to be cut and flared...all installers carry the tools to do so. A lot of runs actually need to be shortened a bit...runs over around 75 feet arent recommended.
