Great pump

This pump is a replacement for one that has been in service for 19 years. I figured I've got more than my moneys worth out of the old one and it would probably quit in the middle of winter. The new pump is working great and was the same take out as the old one. I broke one of the ears off of the old flange when I was unbolting it. Thankfully I bought the flange kit too.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It's a good pump

I have been using a Grundfos 3 speed pump for solar water recirculation thru panels on the roof since last summer. It does the job just fine. I run the pump on low for normal circulation, and on high to run the pressure washer to clean the solar panels (34 plus the 2 hot water panels). I bought the single speed pump to run the heat exchanger, so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

this was 2nd pump purchased, 1st pump installed wrong (motor shaft vertical), located outside and froze/busted, we JB welded it and still lasted 2 more years after we located it inside incorectly vertical, for a total 5 yrs. Mabey this one will outlive the owner (Grandpaws 90 still kicking strong)

Dear Sirs. I use Grundfos pumps exclusivly in conditioning boiler water feed tanks for more than 20 years. Contineous water temperatures of 180F are common. Pumps run 24/7, shut off once a month to service my non-chemical conditioning equipment. Installs in the deserts of Baja Mexico, California, Nevada and now in North Carolina have experienced different water conditions and sources. Boiler room temperatures have been 130F: not one complaint or failure. They have been the best in the long haul compared to all others I have tried. Period. Double Period.

This pump is used in a two zone wood and gas fired boiler system for infloor heating and radiators on the second floor. The pumps I ordered were less than half the cost of purchasing this pump in Canada, including shipping. They are a must have in my system so I need to keep two spares on hand. I live 2 hours away from a major centre and it's nice to know I can afford to have two of these pumps on hand. Easy installation for anyone with even a little bit of handyman genes.

I have been using Grundfos pumps for many years and found them to be very reliable. I use the UP15-42F in a multi-zone heating system. The 3-speed pump makes it easy to tune the system flow. A boiler package, which I just installed, came with a Taco 007 boiler pump. Comparing it to the Grundfos pump design I must say that I like the Grundfos much better. It also has better designed terminal box.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      I don't think you would want a cast iron pump in a potable water system.

      We wouldn't recommend it because this circulator pump is cast iron. The oxygen in present in potable water causes cast iron to rust, which can discolor and contaminate drinking water. When dealing with a plumbing system or an open heating system you should always use a bronze or stainless steel circulator.

      A:

      Grundfos does not offer such a guide (that we know of, anyway). You may want to use a similar guide that Taco offers at the link below. The methods of determining flow rate and head pressure would be the same, but you'd need to select the circulator based on Grundfos pump curves, which are available in the Grundfos product literature.

    1. Can I replace an UP26-96F with this model (UP15-42F) if the use of this pump is only for the hot water heating circulation of a small size apartment on the same floor?

    2. Is this product comes with a pair of flange gaskets, or I need to buy them separately?

      A:

      The performance is going to be different, it will be half the performance. The UP26-96F has a GPM of 0-28 and the UP15-42F has a GPM of 0-17. The pump will fit in the hole but it will pump a less amount of water moving slower then the UP26-96F. This pump does come with the flange gaskets but not the flanges.

      The flow rate is based on head pressure of the system. The higher the head pressure the less flow the pump will provide.
