My neighbor urged me for years to put in a recirculating pump to save water and $'s by
not having to wait for the water to get hot
as gallons and gallons were wasted.
Had to get rid of my old (1928) galvanized
pipe because it was falling apart and put in
copper.
Found your pump on-line and put it in the line,
hooked up to the bottom of the water heater and,
presto! HOT WATER! INSTANTLY!
The pump is so quiet you don't even know it's
on without looking at the green light!
So sorry I did not do this 40 years ago.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Hot water recirculator,GREAT water SAVER

fantastic product. Eliminates waiting for hot water at far points from hot water heater, THUS saving about 3 gallons of wasted water per minute of wait !

ALSO, (though not in their manual), can be innovatively mounted AWAY from hot water tank, to eliminate clutter of lines near tank.

I personally found that as long as the flow loop (hot water tank -> Hot water line -> far end of house -> Return line -> recirculator -> hot water tank (either through bottom, OR BACK into cold water inlet), works well.

AND, set the timer, for most frequent times of use (morning and night, for example), and it only recirculates THEN, thus even more energy savings (lukewarm water not going back into tank to get reheated)

Had one of the retrofit units in prior house, then in this new house decided to add this unit AFTER building, but still did the bypass loop (so as not to go into the main part of cold water line), and it is great

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros:
The pump is easy to install. The timer is straightforward. Operation is ultra quiet.

Cons: Would be nice if the aquastat had a temperature guage. Setting the on/off temperature is a guess. Also the one I ordered was supposed to come with a check valve which turned out not to be included.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Full featured and easy to set. Unfortunately, the check valve/s on the most recent one were defective (would not fully block water backflow, but buying on-line makes it hard to deal with once the pump is installed.

      A:

      It should work great. Advise installing ball valves on either side of it for quick service if ever needed. Install a check valve on the cold supply to the water heater for precaution. Make sure the check valve is installed horizontally if a swing check is used.
