The filter is well constructed and easy to install. A MERV 10 rating was recommended by our heating and cooling technician to improve air flow and reduce strain on the system; thus lowering utility bills and increasing the life of the system. We have not noticed a reduction on our heating bills, over the past two months, but we will require more time (8-10 months) to make an accurate assessment.Previously, we used a 3M allergen (15 MERV) reducing filter, and have not noticed an increase in allergies or dust since installing the 10 MERV filter. In fact, this time of year is when most family members suffer from Mountain Cedar allergies. [...]

Really good service from Pex Supply

By Ken

from Cincinnati, OH

Verified Buyer

Comments about 16" X 25" Media Air Filter:

This Honeywell filter is the exact type that the installer of my new Carrier furnace recommends. I really can't comment on how good it performs because I'd be comparing apples to oranges if I compared it to the ones I used in an older furnace.

The main reason I'm writing this review is to comment on the VERY quick delivery time that I received from Pex Supply. I had never ordered furnace filters online in the past, but I'll be sure to use Pex Supply again in the future...good pricing and very fast delivery time.

  • 16" X 25" Media Air Filter

    Q:

My current Honeywell FC100A1029 indicates a MERV 10 rating. Your listing says MERV 11. Do I need to be concerned about this. I assume the 11 will have a bit more airflow resistance and was wondering if this could be a problem for the overall furnace operation and efficiency. Thanks!
Asked on 1/4/2012 by Anonymous from Excelsior Springs, MO

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The change to MERV 11 was prompted by new minimum federal guidelines. It shouldn't have much of an impact on airflow.

  • 20" X 25" Media Air Filter

    Q:

What is the difference between a replacement air filter and a media air filter?
Asked on 11/13/2011 by possum from Jarrell, Tx

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Media air filters go in Honeywell's media air cleaners. Media filters strain larger particles, such as lint, before intercepting smaller particles that are jostled by random collisions with air molecules in the filters. The molecules cause diffusion in which the particles collide and stick to the filter, while filter-cleaned air circulates back into the home.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

According to the manufacturer, the filter should be replaced at least once a year. For optimal system performance, replace the filter every six months (before heating season and before cooling season).

      A:

Filter housing says every six months. Can't always go by size of home. Def wouldn't say monthly unless you have an unusual amount of dust in your home. You can always examine the filter on a monthly/bi-monthly basis to see if it needs changing....takes about 30 secs to check and put the filter back in.

Honeywell claims this filter is good for 6 months to a year. I change mine yearly and never have a problem but if you have a lot of pets or a dusty house you might want to change out every 6 months.

What is the difference between the media air filter F100F 2028 and the replacement filter FC100A 1003? Our high efficiency heating system has one slot for a replacement filter and I would like to buy the one that works better for keeping our house allergen free.
