You will need to wire the aquastat to a switching relay.

                                    Q:

I currently have a 40gal. indirect fired hot water tank controlled by an older Honeywell L4080B-1295 aquastat, setpoint at 140 degF. with a 15 deg. fixed differential. I would like to be able to reduce the differential to between 5 and 10 deg. to allow the boiler to cycle sooner and regulate the water temp. at approx. between 135-145F. Would the L4006A2007 be the right solution? I'm confused about what "High or Limit" means exactly. My existing aquastat is only High limit. Thanks.

                                      A:

The L4006A2007 aquastat has an adjustable differential between 5°F and 30°F with an operating temperature range of 100°F to 240°F. The "high or low limit" means that the aquastat can activate the device connected to it at either the high or the low set point.

                                      A:

Set the differential to correspond with the boiler manufacturer recommendations. To adjust the temperature differential, rotate the wheel on the back of the snap switch until the desired reading is aligned with the V notch in the frame. The wheel provides an adjustment from 5 degrees F to 30 degrees F. Replace the cover on the Aquastat Controller. Adjust the control point to correspond with the boiler manufacturer recommendations. To adjust, inset a screwdriver in the slotted screw type head located beneath the window in the cover. Turn the scale to the desired control point.
