Controls 5 zones for "Radiant Floor" heating system. User friendly, very accurate, works great.

Note: We made the mistake by tossing out the resisters, remember to install all resisters. We now have to re-order them, having problems when all zones call for heat, there's too much power to all thermostats at once...they fail and malfunction. We've learned the hard way. But a good product, our mistake. :)

Like the illuminated dial...highly recommend!

Very easy to use thermostat, especially for older people. [*] accuracy off by about four degrees. [*] I wouldn't install this anywhere where a freeze-up would be a concern. You can install this with your eyes closed, and the "power-stealing" design doesn't require batteries. If yours in an application where the power to the thermostat is interrupted, by a high limit control, for example, the display will go dark at those times. The memory, however isn't lost and the black out has no affect on its operation. To avoid this you can install a relay. A resistor is also provided with the thermostat that may correct this situation in some applications. The stat also goes dark if its controlled device is shunted, as in a system with an indirect heater where a limit switch may bypass the thermostat. Not a bad buy for the money, but just underatnd that what you are buying isn't traditional Honeywell quality. Quite the opposite.

Comments about Round Non-Programmable, Heat Only, Digital Thermostat:

This product replaces a mercury-based thermostat that could not be adjusted properly to hold a steady temperature in a basement room with hydronic heat in the concrete floor. This product could be adjusted to match the needed cycle time and solved the problem.

  • Round Non-Programmable, Heat Only, Digital Thermostat

    Q:

We have this unit and last night the temperature jumped up to 71 degrees. We had this thermostat set at 66 degrees. I checked to make sure it was still set at 66 degrees and it was, but the room temperature was at 71 degrees. The temperature has not decreased since last night even though it is set at 66 degrees. I also notice the "flame" indicator is not displaying. Somehow our electric boiler is working and pumping water through the house to keep it at 71 degrees. Any ideas???

I don't have the answer for you, but I had a similiar problem. Set temp. at 70 deg., room temp. display rose to 88 deg. The thermostat continuously called for heat even though the "flame" heat-on icon was not displayed. I called Honeywell's toll free number and was told that a professional installer would have to come and verify that the t-stat was defective before I could place a warranty claim. I replaced it with the basic round heat only model CT87 and everything works fine now. This was easier faster and cheaper than hiring a pro to tell me the t-stat was defective.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

You can disconnect the thermostat to see if the boiler is still running. If the unit is not running, you likely have a defective/broken thermostat. If the unit is still running then you probably have an issue with the boiler control.

    Q:

I currently have a 5 zone hydronic heating system using Automag zone valves and one circulator. All zones are controlled by Honeywell round, mercury thermostats, # T87F 1859 2. They are simply SPDT switches. I'd like to replace them with non-programmable digital thermostats, preferably Honeywell. Any suggestions?

      A:

Note: the backlight works only when one turns the control ring and the light then shuts off in about five seconds. If your unit is not working like this than your thermo before was not working all the time either. Perhaps a short in the wiring triggered by someone walking over the wire area or slamming a door.

Light is only supposed to come on when you push the light button or make a tempature change. It stays on for around 20 seconds and then goes out. Sounds like yours is working correct to me.

      A:

Yes it can be. As long as you only need a thermostat to control heat and not air conditioning, this will work for you.
