Had it professionally installed. Found out the old Chronotherm III,20 year old, was not installed correctly. Never had Aux. or Emerg. Heat working, even though the heater was in the heat pump. Lucky I live in Las Vegas. Originally bought a 1H1C Stat. Had to exchange it. Pex Supply was great to work with.

It should adjust for daylight savings time and have a setup option to allow the fan to run x seconds after heat or cool to circulate the stored air out from the ducts.

After much research and price watching, I picked this thermostat from PexSupply. [...] if I had known much about thermostat installation, it would have taken about 10 minutes to install. Since this was my first installation for a heat pump, I over researched but learned a lot in the process. My hint is to diagram the existing wiring and what connectors they are going to. Then do a side by side match up with whatever new unit you have. Make sure you are using the right instructions for your type of unit. Then it is a simple matter of making up the connections with a small screw driver.This unit was very easy to program and use with little more documentation than the quick start guide. You won't need to worry about most of the advanced custom configurations but you can tweak them if you want. The diagnostic runs are very nice to have to make sure you have everything hooked up correctly. Just understand the precautions before you start running them. There is a potential to do damage if you run through things too quickly.For the price, I would very much recommend this thermostat and say that with a moderate amount of knowledge, you can certainly do it yourself and save $150 from having your local HVAC fix it man do it for you. The only negative comment I have is that when the unit starts the HVAC, there is a noticeable click. Probably as a relay closes but it's really not bad and we hardly notice it anymore.

I chose this thermostat because I needed one that supported a two-stage furnace, and I wanted one that showed all of the useful information on the main display (current temp, program temp, time, and program/fan status) at the same time. The installation was smooth, the configuration was easy, and it's been running great ever since.

I also really like the fact that I can have the heating program and cooling program active at the same time, and it will automatically switch between the two as needed. A few times a year here in Colorado, it will get down into the 40's at night (needing the furnace) and up into the 80's during the day (needing the AC). This unit will handle that without my having to do anything.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      A:

      Marge, both the PC8900 and the FocusPro are thermostats that are
      designed to control the comfort system directly (i.e. air conditioner,
      heat pump, etc.). They don't work together unless you have a zoned
      system (multiple thermostat-controlled). In that case, the zone
      controller will use the signals from the thermostats to control their
      respective location's comfort.

      I didn't replace a PC8900 with this, so I can't say.  But what I can say is that I had a little difficulty figuring out the new wiring, and I called Honeywell up and they walked me through it on the phone.  Worked like a dream within 5 minutes of calling them!
