It was cheaper to buy the entire valve and head from PexSupply them other places I searched the web for. I only needed the head as most other people did as I noticed in my search.

The zone valve power head was exactly what I needed. I received it in good time and in good condition. I am perplexed why I had to purchase the zone valve with the zone valve power head. I only needed the power head. The local supply store sells the same product for three times what you sold it to me for. Thank you for your quick response to my order.

These valves work great. They are a pain to swap out with the old ones, but worth the trouble. Last time we replaced only the motor which gave us a few years of service. This time we replaced the entire valve. The heat zones are doing a much better job of maintaining temp.

I am thinking the upstairs valve is closed while the downstairs might be always open (as well as having leaked some water). I assume that some sediment likely builds up in the valve over time also...maybe problimatic.

There's a detent in the slot for the blade to catch to stay open as the spring pulls the ball back to closed position. The detent will only catch if you deflect it just right with your finger, so it won't catch accidentally during normal operation. It's cheap but it works.
