Fantastic!!!

Comments about HydroPEX PEX Crimp Starter Kit:

This was the easiest product I have used in a very long time. I was skeptical if the connections would hold under the water pressure. Everything worked perfect. I used the starter kit for our summer vacation home. Most of the new water lines are outside. After replacing all the cracked lines, we probably saved hundreds of dollars we would have normally spent on a plumber(time is money). We were done quickly and no messy cleanup. We have more than enough for many more repair projects in the future. I highly recommend this product.

Great Starter Kit

Comments about HydroPEX PEX Crimp Starter Kit:

I moved into a House that was built completely using PEX, Being use to PVC I realized if something leaked I wouldn't be able to fix it. After researching PEX I found PEX Supply and this kit, This Kit gives you everything you need to handle most PEX jobs minus valves, tees etc.. But what you get is a well thought out kit. The Crimping Tool is a Pretty Good tool that allows tension adjustment and easily change out of jaws. I just used this to install a Water Softener and Whole House water Filter, The Install went Flawless and the only leaks I had, weren't with the PEX but instead with the cheap plastic fittings that came with the softener/filter. Never using PEX before in my life, I was surprised at having no leaks on the PEX. I'd highly recommend this kit for any homeowner with a PEX home and a Great starter kit to the beginning PEX plumber.

    Q:

When and why would we use the crimping tool?
Asked on 2/19/2012 by Tom from Upland, CA

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

There are several varieties of PEX fittings. These include crimp, clamp, press, expansion, compression, and push-fit. You would use the crimping tool if you need to make a PEX fitting connection and you opt to use the crimp method.

    Q:

1)What is the purpose of the gauge tool? Is it to measure the roundness of the pex prior to crimping?

    2) You mentioned barrier oxygen px for heating system to prevent rusting in the system. Rusting in what system? On the medal basboard itself?
Asked on 1/27/2012 by Anonymous from West Islip, NY 11795

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

A go-no-go gauge is used on crimp rings after a fitting has been made. If a ring does not fit into the gauge at all, or goes all the way through to the bottom, the fitting was made incorrectly. This is demonstrated in our PEX crimping video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnZorlmOOf8 ). The rusting you mention would occur on any ferrous metal that the water touches throughout the heating system. The outer baseboard covers and inner copper elements would be unaffected. It is mainly an issue for cast iron circulator pumps and boilers.

    Q:

can i use the included 3/4 tubing in the package with baseboard heating....otherwise,is it oxygen barrier tubing?
Asked on 9/28/2011 by hunter from jersey city ,nj

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

You can use 3/4" PEX in a baseboard system, but you should use PEX with an oxygen barrier to prevent rusting in the system. This package includes non-oxygen barrier tubing.

    Q:

will pex withstand freezing while in use
    Asked on 9/24/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

PEX, since it is able to expand, is more freeze-resistant than copper. Still, PEX is not freeze-proof. It can burst if water freezes.
