Handy unit but could be improved.

By Russ P

from Upstate NY

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

This unit has some very nice features. The fact it can be hooked up from the top or the bottom is very nice. It also fits right on top of 2" PVC pipe. The material used for the housing is very thin and brittle. It is a milky white color not enough white colorant added during manufacturing process. The valves are very nice and easy to use because they connect to PEX tubing. Easy installation but could use some improvements.

Good valve, cheesy back up nut

By Dale

from Tampa, Fl.

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

These are great 1/4 turn valves, even color coded, but the lock nut is plastic/nylon. In my application I pitched the plastic wall box and attached these valves to a piece of 3" 90 degree aluminum to a block wall. The lock nut, being plastic, cannot be tightened enough to prevent the valve from turning. It's not a problem since these are set and forget but a nice brass lock nut would be nice.

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

Perfect fit for the washing machine area. Valves are solid. The frame is a little flimsy, but once it's drywalled in it will be solid.

Valves ok but box too small

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

The valves work great but the box was smaller than a normal opening. We couldn't use the box so we cleaned up the old box and used it.

Bought one for the basement about 3 years ago, now remodeling again and need another. It's been solid, and others can't touch the price.

Decent Product, price vs quality

By Andrew

from Michigan

Verified Buyer

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

Seems to be decent construction, has knock-out for drain and hot/cold valves that come with it. Valves are special, sturdy 1/4 turn ball valves. Main worry is sturdiness of box as washer lines are connected to valves, stress on valves when hoses are connected may damage box if everything isn't supported with extra care. Mounting of box seems okay as well, but extra support is required when framing and finishing to ensure a quality appearance and function in the end. All in all it is still a good product, you just need to take care in installation to add support and careful planning.

Easy install and excellent Price

By Dave

from Goshen, NY

Comments about Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve:

We renovated our laundry room area and this flush mounted box enabled use to place our washer and dryer flush against the wall giving us the freedom to put a countertop over them. The ease of installation with the hydro pex fittings purchased on the site was so simple. The price was incomparably less than those large home centers.

  • Washing Machine Outlet Box, 1/2" PEX Valve

    Q:

When you say the box is designed to fit 1.5" PVC, are you referring to the drain? What connectors (part number & brand) do I buy to go from 1/2" PEX tubig to the valves?
Asked on 2/22/2012 by Anonymous from Dallas, TX

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The drain is 1.5" PVC. The valves accept 1/2" PEX using a crimp or clamp connection. You would need a crimping or clamping tool, along with the corresponding 1/2" rings in order to make the fitting.
