Description for Hydrolevel VXT-24V

The Hydrolevel VXT steam boiler water feeder offers the homeowner the convenience of maintaining a safe water line in the boiler — automatically. In addition to this added convenience, The VXT is the first automatic steam boiler water feeder designed to monitor the amount of water added to a steam boiler. The addition of make-up water raises the oxygen level in a boiler and accumulates lime and other mineral deposits. Excessive boiler make-up water can cause cast iron boilers to rust internally, severely shortening the boiler’s life. Mineral deposits from too much make up water can impede heat transfer causing cast iron boiler sections to overheat and crack. Unlike any other water feeder, the VXT can protect the life of a boiler by exposing system leaks giving you the information you need to diagnose and repair the system before it’s too late.

  • Added Convenience -
No more trips to the basement to add water to the boiler.
  • Universal Compatibility -
Works with all probe and float type low water cut-offs.
  • Digital Feed Counter -
Brightly illuminated feed counter displays the amount of water added to the boiler — essential in diagnosing water loss problems that can severely shorten the life of a steam boiler. Built-in memory prevents power interruptions from clearing the counter.
  • Programmable Feed Delay -
Helps prevent flooded boilers. Allows time for condensate to return to the boiler before starting a feed cycle — ensuring that additional water is needed.
  • Programmable Feed Amount Settings -
Six settings provide two ways to feed. 1-5 gallon settings now feed above the probe to restore the boiler’s normal operating level. Or, select LWCO setting to end the feed cycle when the low water cut-off re-energizes the burner.
  • Manual Feed Button -
Allows for additional make-up water at the touch of a button. Manual feed amounts are recorded and added to the total gallons displayed by the feed counter.
  • Underfeed Protection -
If one feed cycle is not sufficient to restore boiler operation, the VXT will delay and feed one additional cycle.
  • Lockout Flood Protection -
The VXT locks-out to prevent steam system flooding and costly water damage if burner operation does not resume after two consecutive feed cycles.
  • On-Board Diagnostics -
LED also indicates key control functions.

Comments about Hydrolevel Automatic Water Feeder - 24V:

I had to replace my VXT-24 water feeder. The solenoid valve failed and my steam boiler flooded along with basement and most of my house . I contacted Hydrolevel and they couldn't believe it. Well don't ask why I replaced it with like but I did. The one difference is a filter screen before the solenoid valve, Hopefullty it won't fail again.

Replaced and Old School McDonald and Miller WFE-24 with this model and there is no comparison.

You manage what you measure, this product allows you to measure what normal monthly water intake to boiler is, so you can tell when something is wrong.

It also alows you to not have to refil at Low Water Cutoff, but anywhere in gallon increments of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Its also a million times quieter than Older Tech when calling for water.....

I changed the Low Water Cut Off and figured it would make sense to update the Feeder as well. This is the only reason I purchased this. I like the display that shows how much (gallons) water has been added to the system. Throughout the winter I drain small amounts of water from my 1986 steam heat boiler after it gets really hot to remove some of the rusty residue and hopefully extend the life of the bottom of the system. Q:

what does the number on the display means?
every time i turn on the boiler, all the water disappears from the tube and the boiler turns off and it waits for the water to come back to fill the tube, then the boiler turns on, what could be wrong with it?

The number is the amount of times the water feeder replenished the water (you can reset this). If all the water is gone from the tube then you need to adj the settings on the feeder.

                                    A:

The VXT displays the number of gallons it has feed into the boiler since it was installed or last reset. The boiler is turning off because of a low water condition. This is probably a result of lack of proper maintenance but could also be due to other reasons like improper installation. Check the forums on heatinghelp.com. Good luck!
