        Comments about Matco-Norca 3/4" (FIP x Male Union) Hot Water Angle Radiator Valve:

        The design of the union, particularly the minimal space between the union nut and the thread on the union that goes into the radiator, makes this valve difficult to install. I had to use the smallest slip jaw plyers I could find to tighten the nipple into the radiator, on older valves, this distance was more carefully considered. On this valve, if the distace from where the nut seats on the union nipple to the first pipe thread on the nipple was another 1/4", installation would have been so much easier!
        Otherwise, quality and functionality was good.

              Perfect fit on my radiators, once I got the old ones off. Well made. No leaks whatsoever on 7 radiators throughout the winter. Problem free. Nice low profile of the valve stem.

                  A:

                  You do not need a special tool to tighten the union on this radiator valve. A standard wrench would work perfectly fine.

                  A .875" maximum opening slip jaw plyers worked for me, barely. They were narrow enough to clear between union nut and bushings on the radiator. I reviewed this product and gave it a low mark for design, it's as if those who designed and built it never had to turn a wrench and actually install one! How typical!
