Similar to the 3/4" hot water valve, the distance from the first thread on the union nipple to the top of the union nut in the tightened condition is too small. Another 1/8-1/4" would have made it much easier to install. To actually tighten the nipple onto a radiator( or anything else for that matter) you need to use the smallest slip-jaw plyers you can buy, with the narrowest width of jaw head. Otherwise, materials and quality were OK.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

                  I believe you mean is there a way to tighten the half union , male nipple side by the internal, ID of the fitting via key or spud device. The answer is NO, it is a smoothe bore ID. i tightened the union as 1 and then the entire fitting into the exchanger, then with a small "jerk" of the union nut the fitting is unloosened.

                  Use a little pipe dope and give it a try. Hope This Helps.
