Description for Nomaco K-Flex POLYTAPE

Poly Tape is a convenient and easy to use product which complements the Nomaco Insulation tubing and sheet insulation products. It is supplied in 3 mil thickness by 2" width by 36 yards, with a solvent acrylic adhesive for applying to hot or cold pipe fittings.

Poly Tape is designed to perform in direct sunlight and is 25/50 rated for flame spread and smoke developed. It is waterproof and designed for indoor or outdoor use. Its function is to cover circumferential/butt joints, copper couplings and press fittings to ensure the seams from popping open.

  • Nomaco K-Flex Poly Tape (Indoor/Outdoor Use)

    Q:

    Recently had a new unit compressor/condensor installed. After installation I noticed I could see the copper tubing underneath some old foam "pipe" at the connection point. I called the installer and asked that he address this condition using areosol foam. Will this foam do the same as using poly tape and/or your "pipe"? FYI-saw a pic/description of using your products for this reason- fixing rotting A/C insulation in Familyhandyman, 10/2010 issue while waiting in a dr's office. I thought I had lost it and just found it after the installation.
    Maybe we could have saved a little if I put the paper away in a convenient location. Thanks for your reply. Margaret

      The foam, the pipe insulation, and this Poly Tape will all so the same thing. The tape can be used outdoors in temperatures down to -35 °F. It is waterproof and UV resistant.

    Q:

    Can this tape be used to protect PEX exposed to sunlight? I want to use PEX for an irrigation system and will have small lengths exposed that attached to the valve system to sunlight. I read somewhere to be careful about the type of adhesive that one can attach to PEX, as some of it will eat at the PEX tubing.

      This tape is not designed for direct contact with PEX. We would recommend that you sleeve the exposed PEX with PVC.
