Comments about Qmark 4' Electric Baseboard Heater (240 volts - 1000 watts):

I was not expecting much but was still disappointed. It is very cheaply made, which I expected, but the installation was awful. I spent twice as much time getting the cover plate screwed back on then I did on the rest of the project. Simply providing a better screw would have helped. Marley seemed to only consider the bottom line, never the customer, when building this product. I'm glad I re-purposed older units for the rest of the house.

Easy installation, works great. We had very old baseboards/thermostats in our house. The upgrade was way overdue. These heaters are affordable and efficient.

This baseboard heater is a little shorter for its wattage than some of the other brands--a feature that was important to me because of where I was installing it. Also it has rounded corners, a feature that I like because it will be a little safer for my grandchildren.

Nice quiet heater, does a great job providing alternate heat for my bathroom. Makes the bathroom so much more comfortable than it previously was with only the forced air system.

                                        Q:

I am considering this unit, but I'm wondering if the same size hydronic unit would be worth the extra cost in regards to heater performance. I'm thinking of replacing some 30 year old baseboard 240 volt units of unknown brand, wattage, or btu output! They don't seem up to the job lately, which seems odd since there are no moving parts to wear out! Any/all advice greatly appreciated! Thanks...........Andy

                                          A:

QMark's Electric Hydronic baseboards incorporate some liquid with the electrical element. The fluid holds heat and allows those units to function more efficiently than standard electrical units (because the element does not need to run as long). We're not sure of the exact relative efficiency ratings and electrical draws, but using the electric-hydronic unit would probably pay off more in areas with higher electric rates per kWh.
