Description for Ranco ETC-111000

Digital Display

  • Unlike many electronic controls, the ETC is simple to install and set up. One finger is all you need to program it. The standard digital display and keypad allow the user to adjust the temperature settings with 1 degree resolution. Setpoint temperature, differential and mode of operation (heating or cooling) can all be selected using the keypad and display.
When not in the programming mode, the display gives a constant readout of the sensor temperature. Annunciators on the liquid crystal display also indicate when the relay is energized.

Remote Temperature Sensing
  • The ETC is capable of remote temperature sensing up to 400 feet away from the control when using standard 22 gauge sensor wire.

Built-In Safety
  • Every ETC model is equipped with diagnostic programs that check for hardware, software, or system problems and display different error codes to indicate where the trouble is.
The ETC also has a keyword lockout switch to prevent tampering with the control settings by unauthorized personnel. The switch, which is located inside the enclosure, can be used to disable the keypad function.

I have had one of these controllers for about 8 years now and the first one just started having problems. I ordered another of the same for a replacement to run my hot water circulation pump and it work great. I use it to cycle the pump on and off after the water is up to temp.

Comments about Ranco Single Stage ETC Temperature Control w/ Sensor (120/240V Input) - Includes 8' Cord:

I am replacing my thermostats with the Ranco. It is accurate and I can set the differential as I want. I use it for a hot water loop control; another is used for a fan control; and the third is used to control a hot water heater.

This is a great product

Awesome Temperature Controller

Comments about Ranco Single Stage ETC Temperature Control w/ Sensor (120/240V Input) - Includes 8' Cord:

I bought this product recently to turn my freezer into a fermentation chamber since I'm living in Georgia. It worked great! I was even able to mount the controller onto the back of my freezer for that clean professional installed look.

The only bad thing is the instructions can be a little confusing for a first timer wiring up something, however there are plenty of instructions on the internet to help you find your answer.

I bought this to control the temperature in a sausage smoker. It looks like a very good quality piece of equipment. The instructions that came with it were extremely clear. I have tested it but haven't used it in the actual smoker yet. It worked flawlessly in the test.

      A:

The sensor can be replaced (part 1309007-044). See the following manual for installation instructions: http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1253196590775/17484_PROD_FILE.pdf

      A:

Yes. According to the data sheet with the controller, you can get a replacement temp probe. The sheet lists the type and characteristics of the thermister used. If you wanted to replace it with a different type, (shape, housing, etc.) you could as long as it matches the original used.

    Q:

I'd like to use this to keep the temperature in our fridge around 65-70 degrees but am wondering what happens to the freezer portion if I plug the unit into this? Does the freezer compressor only come on when the fridge kicks on? Is there any way to keep the freezer portion frozen and the fridge portion temperature controlled? Thanks!

We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of your refrigerator. It is possible that the this thermostat would turn off the freezer as well.

    Q:

we put the sensor with about 18in of the cord in the water on our wood water furnace in about 2 months the sensor gave a ep code we know the water wasn't 225deg. do we need to put this in a bulb well and do you have one?will it still sense as well?

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

According to the manufacturer, these sensors should not be submersed in any liquid. You would need to use a thermal/bulb well. The only ones we have are parts 121371A, 121371B, and 121371M.

Did it get wet? Sounds like the screen is simply dead. It's never happened to me, and I don't know of any way to change it. (By the way, dumb point, but if for some reason you are using this in an area with bright light, make sure you are not trying to look at it through polarized lenses, like for sunglasses -- that can cause LCD "blackout" too.)

      A:

It could be several things. LCDs will go all black if they get too hot. Once they cool down, they will be fine. It could also be defective. LCDs can freeze too. If they freeze, the display seal (yes, that's where the 'liquid' part of the name comes from) may break and then it's all over for the display...

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

excessive heat from direct sunlight can overheat the display and cause it to go black. When the unit cools down, then display should return to normal. LCD screens are susceptible to heat.

Perhaps you don't have power to the unit. Check input voltage with a basic 120/240 volt check light and check to see that you have it connected correctly. If it all checks out perhaps you have a faulty unit.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The E2 message is a memory error. You can press the "Set" button to go through all the settings. If the unit continues to show E2 then you will need to replace the unit. You can refer to this Owner's Manual for additional information http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1283530359689/38736_PROD_FILE.pdf
