Description for Rifeng 100-300-OXY

Rifeng, the largest manufacturer of plastic piping in the world, has created oxygen barrier PEX tubing for radiant and hydronic heating systems. Oxygen barrier PEX tubing has the same properties as non-barrier PEX pipes, but it prevents oxygen and other elements from infiltrating and damaging delicate heating system components. For example, it keeps boilers from rusting. Rifeng PEX pipe is made of polyethelene which is cross-linked to enhance performance and maintain the properties of thermoplastics. Furthermore, this tubing can be installed in a variety of ways, such as using the crimp, clamp, or fitting systems. Rifeng offers a 25-year warranty on the product.

this product wants to return to its coil form. I used it to inner connect baseboard heating. It is ideal for running through floor joist holes as soft copper tubing was used in the past. As a retired plumber using this product for the first time i should have ordered the aluminum core product which would maintain its shape after forming.

Comments about 1/2" Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing (300 ft Coil):

I used 1/2inch oxygen barrier pex tubing for my hydronic heated concrete floor slab. I was pleased with the prompt delivery and was able to maintain my construction schedule. The tubing installation goes much better if you can maintain the tubing in the coil as much as possible during lay out. I would recommend this product to others.

Comments about 5/8" Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing (400 ft Coil):

Fist this is a little tough to work with cold. But once you warm it up almost anyone can install this stuff. I updated all the tubes to my radiators using Pex and Manifold.

Comments about Rifeng 1/2" Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing (1,000 ft Coil):

Used this item in hydronic floor heat under hardwood. Easy to install, minimal kinking, overall great. I have not calculated the heat transfer rate yet as I have not completed the job. However preliminary test indicate this to be within tolerance.

  • 3/4" Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing (300 ft Coil)

    Q:

can pex tubing be used outdoors?
Asked on 4/29/2012 by Greg from Long Island N.Y.

    4 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

PEX can be used outdoors, but it must not be exposed to direct sunlight. UV-rays can cause PEX to break down in as little as 30-60 days. You should also make sure that no fluid is allowed to freeze in the line. While PEX does have more freeze-resistance than traditional rigid piping, frozen liquid can cause bursting.

PEX can be used anywhere other pipe/tubing can be used. It can deteriorate
due to UV so protect it or otherwise be sure that it is UV tolerant type
      PEX.

It has to be protected from sun light..... but yes, works fine underground or covered from light.

    Q:

What is the bend radius for 3/4 pex?
    Asked on 4/14/2012 by Darren

    5 answers

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

I have not bent the 3/4" but the 5/8" easily bends to form a 12" loop for
radiant heat so I suppose the bend radius is 6" or less. I wouldn't push
the 5/8" any more than that.

I did not bend the 3/4 pex I got but I would think if you heat it somewhat you would be able to bend it in a 18 inch radius.

depending on the brand of pex you get, between 5 and 8 inches minimum

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

Minimum radius is six times the diameter. Just be careful not to kink it. There are special elbow brackets to support a tight radius. They are made to bring tube out of a floor and into a wall or where ever a tight 90 is needed. If running 3/4 in a floor, most installers will use an "hour glass" 180 to give the pex a larger radius for a 180 turn-a-round and then keep a 9" spacing on the parallels if that is what the design calls for. You seldom will see 3/4 spaced this close unless it is for a snowmelt system.

    Q:

How is the quality of drinking water from this type of plumbing versus copper/pvc?
Asked on 1/25/2012 by Anonymous from coloma, mi

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The materials in PEX tubing are chemically inert. They do not react with or contaminate water. Neither will fittings: all PEX fittings are mechanical, and do not use glues, chemicals, adhesives, or cements. Oxygen barrier PEX, however, is not approved for use with potable water (it is designed for closed-loop heating systems). In plumbing applications, always use non-oxygen barrier PEX.

    Q:

I am building a barn and would like to add radiant floor to a 20'x20' area. Can I tie the PEX directly to the rebar and will this deteriorate its life span due to vibration with the rebar.
Asked on 1/17/2012 by Anonymous from Amarillo, TX

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

PEX can be attached directly to rebar. Its lifespan will not decrease as a result.

  • 1/2" Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing (300 ft Coil)

    Q:

I built a 40' x 72' post frame building a year & a half ago & had radiant heat put in the 6" concrete floor. I used the Rifeng oxygen barrier PEX & my question is about this product's UV resistance. There's about 14 PEX lines coming out of the floor into the manifolds which are approx. 15" long & have been exposed to indirect sunlight for the last year & a half. I wasn't originally aware that UV & PEX don't mix but plan to immediately build a box around the exposed lines.
My question is whether or not I can do anything else to condition or lengthen the life of the lines that have seen sunlight. They currently function & look good. Is there anything I can look for (other than leaks) to determine whether or not they have suffered any damage due to the exposure? Thanks.
Asked on 1/11/2012 by Anonymous from NY

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

If the UV were to affect the PEX, it would become rigid and brittle.
