              Comments about Runtal 6" x 24" (2 ft) Baseboard Radiator 1200 BTUH:

Well designed and built. Compact. Efficient. Easy to handle. Like a previous poster, all four entry points are 1/2" female. Understand that lines to the unit will need to be covered, as the unit sits 3" (min.) above floor. Btu rating is accurate. I use the unit to heat a 5'(w) x 15'(l) hallway, with doors at both ends. Plenty of heat keeps the space warm.

                    Comments about Runtal 9" x 60" (5 ft) Baseboard Radiator 3850 BTUH:

I decided to put these in the new kitchen addition to my 100+ yr old house (the rest of the house has slant fin) and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Not only do they have a much more sleek, sophisticated look than the slant fin, but they get hot and stay hot like my old cast iron ones without taking up the room required by cast iron or slant fin.

I AM HEATING A 20 X 24 ROOM AFTER 15 MINUTES OF OF USING MY NEW RADIATORS, THE ROOM TEMP WENT UP BY THREE DEGREES. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE RUNTAL UF-2-48 IS THAT THEY ARE HEAVY DUTY AND WILL LAST MY LIFE TIME AND I BELIEVE THEY WILL HELP CUT MY HEATING BILL BY A 1/3.

Nice looking quality product but only 1/2" fittings. Not sure what the restriction will be when inserted in a 3/4" series loop. I did not see any head pressure information on these Runtal Emitters. Charts would be very nice. Runtal does say they can be used in a series loop but add to end of loop, still no specific info.

I removed a radiator from our main bathroom in our now 80+ year old home in 1983 and replaced it with a five tube x 48" runtal unit. the radiator encroached on the toilet but this hugs the wall (projecting only 2" from wall) and is much less obtrusive. I didn't use the radiator because i did an overhaul on the heating system the first year. one slight disadvantage to any radiator not using cast iron is that the heat does not remain in the radiator as long after the boiler shuts off so you get a temperature that fluctuates a little more in the room therefore, i recommend that you oversize the runtal a bit because of this. otherwise, our runtal has been quiet and trouble-free for 26 yrs.

I replaces a section of fin tube with this and I am glad I did. It is very expensive relative to fintube but it looks a lot nicer. I'm not a huge fan of the piping that you need to make this work. There should be rear entry fittings. The instructions, like on a lot of plumbing products, are not DIY friendly so you have to know what you are doing to put it in. It came well packed on Yellow Freight who were nice enough to bring it inside my house for me. The unit came with a bottle of touch up paint that had leaked all over the place but not on the heater, just inside the little parts box. There was a minor paint chip on the unit and it touched up fine.

I replaced several cast iron radiators and their inefficient metal cover in my house with the Runtal baseboards. I saved 4 to 5 square feet of floor space with each. They work and look great.

Very safe for use around children (note that I am using a 100 degree water heat source from a geothermal heat pump so the temperature is not too hot to start with). A little pricey, but then you tend to get what you pay for.

The answer really depends on how much total piping, fittings and heat exchangers are connected in series and what the circulator head/volume capabilities are. Typically, slant fin radiation can deliver more output because it's designed to run at a higher temperature than runtal products, so you may be derating the output of the heating system.
I have a mixture of Runtal radiators and some old slant fin in my home, you have to be careful about loop temperature as the old baseboard is rated for 160-180F but there's built-in personnel protection. Not so with a runtal radiator, you need to control the loop temperature. I run my radiant panels at 140F, the circulator might run a little longer than typical baseboard, but the rooms eventually reach setpoint.
More information is needed about the piping loop, pump type, peak heating load from the spaces etc.

The only way to get a precise BTU requirement would be to perform a heat-loss calculation, but we do offer a BTU Calculator that can help you get a good estimate (see link below).

You must size the baseboard based on the water temperature being used. Lower water temperatures will require a greater length of baseboard.
