Excellent solution

Comments about Tube Talon for 1/2" & 5/8" & 3/4" PEX Tubing (Bag of 100):

These talons are great! One size fits all and the ribbed nail shank grips like crazy. If anything, they grip too much... I'm installing them on old, massive joists, so the hard wood makes it sometimes difficult to nail in and pull out, but I rather they hold too tight, than come loose. Overall, excellent product!

Comments about Tube Talon for 1/2" & 5/8" & 3/4" PEX Tubing (Bag of 100):

Nothing wrong here, they work nicely in their intended use. Since they only have one nail they can twist a little so if you're trying to make an expansion loop in the Pex they can be a little difficult to lock down, but since they fit both 1/2" and 3/4" tube and I used the 'trunk and branch' method vs. a manifold the 100 ct. bag was cheap and convenient.

  • Tube Talon for 1/2" & 5/8" & 3/4" PEX Tubing (Bag of 100)

    Q:

my understanding is when securing pex tubing, it should not be in contact with the wood. When I used these tube talons, they hold the pex against the wood. Is this the correct product for attaching pex to wood suface?

      A:

I'm pretty sure all pex is atached directly to wood. The only problem you could experience is if some part of the tube is not properly fastened and moves or "kicks" during water operation. The resulting rubbing could wear out your tube in the long run (long, like 10 years...). Make sure the bends or corners are properly secured since this is where most of the "kicking" occurs.

      A:

If you do not want the PEX to touch the wood directly, we recommend that you use PEX clips ( http://www.pexsupply.com/PEX-Clips-197000 ) instead. They will allow there to be gap between the PEX and the wood, and are normally used in joist bay installations. This creates a more even distribution of heat.
