I WOULD BUY THIS FRODUCT AGAIN

By Dennis

Comments about Spirotherm 3/4" Spirovent Jr. Air Eliminator (Threaded):

I am using this air separator in my closed circuit domestic water heating system (heat exchanger type). I Know it is working because I also have a sight flow gauge installed in the system. At start I could see many small bubbles of air flowing thur the gage. After a couple of cycles of the system no more bubbles of air can be seen. Local pluming supply guy said I made the right choice for air separators even though Pexsupply beat his price[...] by 1/3..

Comments about Spirotherm 1" Spirovent Jr. Air Eliminator (Threaded):

I have been using Spirovent Jr. Air Eliminators for many years and it was my choice again for a recent system revamp. I installed them at the inlet of each zone pump since the pumps are installed in the return loop. After initial filling and venting of the zones, the Spirovents quickly eliminated air released as the system was heating up and the pumps are running very quiet.

Air Eliminator - Yes it is

By StanS

Comments about Spirotherm 3/4" Spirovent Jr. Air Eliminator (Threaded):

The Air Eliminator by Spirotherm (3/4" threaded) removes all air from a hydronic residential heating system. Took away all the waterfall and other gurgling noises. One thing to note, the newer product has a 1/2" bottom opening which was absent on the older models. You will need to add a plug.

I bought this Spirovent JR. Air Eliminator because the boiler in my townhome was not installed with an air eliminator. I installed the unit and noticed an immediate reduction of air noise in the boiler system. Does the job!

    Q:

when do you need to utilize/add a expansion tank to the bottom of this air eliminator? closed loop radient system.

      A:

The air eliminator does not have to be installed on top of the expansion tank, but this is the most common positioning of it. Both are necessary pieces in a closed-loop radiant system.

    Q:

I had a professional install infloor radiant heat using plex.
There is no Air eliminator but there is a expansion tank and a mixer. I just added on to the system and now there is a lot of gurgling going on and the boiler shuts down even though I added water and show 20 lbs pressure. If I add the Air Eliminator will that take care of the problem?

The air eliminator will definitely help, but you will still need to bleed the system.

    Q:

I'm installing a Solo 110 with a Smart40 tank. My plan was to install a Spirovent in the system to eliminate air, but this will be a closed system.

Does that mean that I should not use this so I don't water log the expansion tank?

    Thanks!

There is no problem with using Air Eliminators in closed systems.

      A:

The expansion tank is for the expansion of the hot liquid not air.
The air separator will not effect the operation of the ex-tank. the tank helps control the system pressure. But then what do I know I'm just an electrician. Anybody else agree with me???

This should not create any problems, other than a little bouncing before everything settles down after a quick fill. The product is normally used in this manner.

  • Spirotherm 3/4" Spirovent Jr. Air Eliminator (Threaded)

    Q:

I own a Brownstone in NYC which is heated by a gas fired boiler handling four zones in a closed loop system. Naturally, the entire system must be purged once a year, but between the third and top floor there is a recurring air lock which requires more attention. There are bleeder valves on every radiator but they are not very reliable.

Would you sugest eliminating those bleeders and installing one of the air eliminators on each zone originating in the basement, or would it be sufficient to do so only on the problem lines?

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

We suggest that you leave your existing valves in place and add this unit to your main piping in the mechanical room.

  • Spirotherm 3/4" Spirovent Jr. Air Eliminator (Threaded)

    Q:

My radiant heat manifold is installed in the basement, with the PEX running overhead to heat the first floor. I'm guessing I have air in the PEX lines, because at the start of the heating season I don't have much heat until I purge the lines by hooking hoses up to the manifold. Will this product keep the air from getting into the system, and I won't have to purge the manifold and lines every year?
Asked on 10/23/2010 by Nate from Pittsburgh, PA

    2 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Yes, this product will help eliminate air from the system. If this is an open loop system though, there will constantly be air in the system in which case you would have to purge the manifold lines every year regardless.
