The Taco 007-IFC with Integral Flow Check (IFC) is designed to reduce installation costs when zoning with "00" circulators on hydronic or radiant heating, hydro-air fan coils or indirect water heaters. Patented IFC inside pump casing eliminates separate in-line flow check, reducing installation costs. Reduced pressure drop of IFC increases flow performance by 240% over in-line check valves. IFC and unique, replaceable cartridge containing all moving parts enable you to service easily instead of replacing the entire unit. Available in bronze or cast iron with flanged connections. Cast iron models now (July, 2005) redesigned with IFC located in the discharge flange for easier identification and simplifed air purging using standard piping and purge valve configuration.

Be sure to get a relay switch box to wire your thermostat to and then to the circulation pump. Three thermostats in different rooms means you need a 3 zone relay switch. then that will hook to your 3 pumps. You really need a separate pump for each 200 ft run and you get much more efficient heat. Wish I had known that first then I would not have had to disconnect and reconnect all my piping. But not too hard and very worth it!!

I use this Circ pump for heat zone. It does the job fine. However it did not work at first. When installed and activated the pump did not pump. The pump was making sounds as if it was running, but it did not work.
I had to open the pump head up and manually spin the motor to free it up. Once I did that it works fine.
I think Taco needs to take more care in the construction of their pumps. After all if I had not known that the pump was not actually pumping it would have burned out the motor. I have talked to other installers and they have said that Taco pumps are recognized for this problem. One installer told me that he went through 5 pumps before he found that this was the problem.
I have not had this problem with other circ pumps.

These little babies just work!

Comments about 007 Cast Iron Circulator with Integral Flow Check, 1/25 HP:

These Taco circulators just get the job done with a much smaller footprint than tradition motor-coupling-pump arrangements. I have 3 of them. This one, with the internal flow check valve, saved me the expense and effort of dealing with my current faulty flow check valve.

Excellent product!

By CodeWarrior

Comments about 007 Cast Iron Circulator with Integral Flow Check, 1/25 HP:

I used three of these in my radiant system. They are quiet, efficient and built to run hot 24/7. We have a very limited amount of space for our radiant manifolds and associated piping, pumps and other related systems, which made the integral check valves an extra-special bonus.
The pumps run pretty hot (even to the touch), but are designed to handle that without issue. I knew that when purchasing them, but was surprised none-the-less, not having any experience with them. Getting the integrated flow check valves was a no-brainer decision for me.
Integrating the pumps into my design was easy. Installation is a snap and trouble-free.

Excellent quality product

Comments about 007 Cast Iron Circulator with Integral Flow Check, 1/25 HP:

Taco pumps are quality pumps. This is the second 007 pump that I have in use. I have one w/ a check valve and one w/o. Currently both are priced the same but when I purchased my first one the one w/o a check valve was $15 cheaper. Both run fine and quiet but the motor will be extremely hot to the touch - they say this is normal but I'm still leary about that. Don't forget to order the flanges.

These get too hot to touch, but, they are supposedly built to take it. I have had no issues with the 3 I have installed.

      A:

The pump motar housing can get very hot. The pumps are rated for water temperatures over 200 degrees.
Your boiler will typically operate between 140 and 180 degrees depending on the type of system you have and if you an outside air temperature sensor. If you have an outside air sensor, then you boiler wayer temp will be lower as it gets warmer outside. This save you money as you use less fuel.

I have 3 of these functioning normally in a radiant floor heating system x 1 year. I have never put a temp gauge on them but they get quite hot - intolerable to touch. The pump is lubricated by the fluid running through it so the temp of the fluid would be the minimum temp I would suspect.

  • 007 Cast Iron Circulator with Integral Flow Check, 1/25 HP

    Q:

It seems a though the flow check is not operating properly on one of my zones, as that zone remains warm even with its thermostat turned off. The ciculator for that zone is definitely not running, yet hot water flows through the zone when one of the other circulators is running. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure of your issue, but is the circulator on the discharge of another circulator? Are they in parallel or in series? To see if the check valve is working, one way is to listen when the circulator turns off. You should hear a noise of the check valve closing. Hope this helps somewhat.

      A:

It does appear that the flow check isn't working properly. You could always install one in the line, but the flow check in the circulator can also be replaced. It is part number 0010-025RP.

  • 007 Cast Iron Circulator with Integral Flow Check, 1/25 HP

    Q:

This circulator is on a zone for master bath radiant heat and is the only zone calling for heat 90% of the time because rest of home is wood stove, my question is when cold under 15 degrees even though it runs constant will not heat above 60 degrees, have one line of 1/2" pex 50 ft run to bath and total of 300 ft on zone which was more than plans called for with rez check (this is new construction). Do you think it would help to supply lines under bath with 2 feed and return lines instead of 1? Seems like there is not enough water flow? Any thoughts?

      A:

Breaking the area into two loops might allow this circulator to work. If you stick with a single loop, you may want to try a larger circulator.

  • 007 Cast Iron Circulator with Integral Flow Check, 1/25 HP

    Q:

Two questions, please. (1) Does the Taco 007-IFC pump allow water to "flow-through" the system when the pump isn't running? There will be a small amount of fresh cold water entering the system to keep the water in the in-floor tubes from stagnating during off season.
(2)Is a cast iron circulator pump suitable for an "open direct" hydronic heating system using potable heated water, or do I need bronze or stainless steel instead?
    Thanks for your help!
Asked on 12/31/2011 by kt from NC

    2 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The purpose of the integral flow check is to prevent flow through, so you may not want to use this circulator. Additionally, cast iron pumps rust in open systems because of the new water that is continually introduced. You would need to use a bronze or stainless steel circulator.

1 ) With the check valve there is no backflow when the system is not running.

2 ) I have used the cast iron for the past 7 years on mine with no problem.

    Q:

can this pump be used on the return side of the boiler without installing the inline flow check ?
    Asked on 12/17/2011 by Anonymous

    2 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

There is no need to install an in-line flow check with IFC circulators. The internal flow check removes the need for this extra part and it accomplishes the same job.

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

Yes, assuming the pump meets your flow rates, but with no additional space being used, getting the integrated flow check is a no-brainer. I have one for each of my zones on the supply side and one on the return. They are controlled with a Taco Zone Controller.

Can the integral flow check be removed, if necessary, on a Taco

      A:

      Yes
You can remove it by grabbing it and pull
This make for easy replacement if needed

If you don't have isolation valves(full port ball valves)this would be a good time to add them.
Also check your vents as you will have air in your system after the repair.

There is no wiring diagram and i see a white and yellow can the black hot go to either wire?

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Either colored wire from the capacitor box can be attached to either colored wire from the power supply. There is no “hot” or “common” wire leading from the capacitor box. Typical installation would be to attach the white wire to the white (common) power supply wire and either the yellow or blue wire to the black (hot) power supply wire.
