The High Velocity Series Taco 009 Cartridge Circulator is designed for a wide range of residential and light commercial, higher-head/lower-flow water circulating applications. Available in cast iron or bronze construction. Bronze can be used in higher-head/lower-flow heat recovery, open-loop solar heating and light commercial/domestic water recirculation systems. Unique, replaceable cartridge contains all of the moving parts so you can service it easily instead of replacing the entire unit.

      They are the same, other than the fact that the 009-SF5 is stainless steel (necessary to prevent rusting in open systems).

    what is head range, i see 0 to 34 feet, from the outdoor furance to house is about 65 feet and outside furance is about 10 feet up a small hill. is this the right pump for this system, plus the water boiler in the house is in the basement, there is about 15 feet in height differance of the two boilers

      Head range refers to the amount of friction that the pump can overcome in order to keep the water moving through the system. It does not actually have anything to do with the distance of the piping.       A:

      The impeller could be having problems for any number of reasons, including the ball bearing getting locked up and a rock or piece of solder jamming it. You cannot buy the impeller by itself, but you can get replacement cartridge part 009-021RP.

    Is there any maintenance that can be done to the pump to prolong the life of the pump. I have an outside wood furnace that is an open system so o2 is allowed in and my water is high in mineral content. Any advice would be appreciated. I am only getting about 2 years out the pumps

      For an open system, you need the 009-SF5 stainless steel pump. The cast iron pump is rusting and failing, so switching to the stainless steel pump could help prolong the life of the pump for your system.
