This product was purchased for a collecge for training purposes. It arrived on time and well pacakaged to prevent any damage. We have done business in the past with PEX Supply Co. They are always exteremly polite, very eager to help and have a great policy of expaling about the product to a customer without any hurry. Would highly recommend this company to everyone.

I replaced a 10+ year old Sarco mixing valve with this valve. One of the best features is the sweat/union connections. The old mixing valve had threaded connections which had to be cut out. If I have to change this valve in the future I can just take off the unions and insert a new valve. I have used many of these valves and never had one fail yet. I used this valve for a mixing valve for radiant floor heat. Works like a charm.

Comments about 3/4" Sweat 5003 Mixing Valve:

I installed this on my hot water heater. This serves several purposes: 1. It regulates the water temperature better, the temperature does not go up or down as the tank empties, or when the burner comes on. and 2. I can get more hot water out of my 30 gallon tank. We do not run out of water any more. The price was a lot less than a new water heater and the installation was easier as well.I also bought two Sharkbite Temp gauges. One on the hot water, and one on the mixed water. It is a bit of an extravagance, but it makes it very easy to see how well it is working, and it is working very well. It confirms the factory setting of 130 degrees is correct as well as steady, and when I changed it, I could see the result quickly and easily. The gauge on the hot water outlet shows me how much the Honeywell thermostat is off, (which was considerable). I put the water heater at 160 degrees, and the mixed temp was rock steady at 130. Also, now, I NEVER run out of hot water.I set the mixed temp down to about 118, and the hot water to 140. We are very happy with this setting. Steady temperature and plenty of hot water. If you choose to economize and get only one gauge, put it on the hot water side. You can always measure the mixed water with a meat thermometer at a faucet. You cannot measure the hot water side.Reading the other messages, it looks like there is an O ring that can go bad. It would probably be a good idea to buy it for a spare when you get this. Replaced a couple of Hoffman Specialty tempering valves that had failed after 10 years. They wanted $258 each for internal guts to repair the valves with 3 weeks lead time! The TACO replacement valves at $90 each were a no brainer. Arrived within 2 days and installed and up and running perfect within a couple hours.

I want to maintain a temperature of 100 deg. F in the floor. This valve did an excellent job doing just that last winter. It was easy to install and can be replaced if there is a problem. I would use this valve for that application again.

You can try taking it apart, pretty easy to do, and inspect and clean the inside. Should do the trick. If you don't have a sediment filter on your water line, it may be a good idea to install one. That is my plan for this summer.
