Expensive- use the K.I.S.S. Principle

        Comments about Radiant Mixing Block:

I added radiant heat and I thought this was my answer to control temperatures/boilers more efficiently. I wound up using this as a simple "setpoint" setup. Very similar to an ordinary "mix valve". When it works it is very good. However, upon some power interuptions I have to reset the unit or the injectionpump locks at minimum giving me 70 degree heating water instead of the requested 130 degree water. Taco is no help and blames my setup ignoring the fact that it works some of the time. If I had to do this again, I would use a simple mix valve. No need for the complicated electronics here. Use the K.I.S.S. principle.

              Comments about Radiant Mixing Block:

I purchased two RMB's for my system. One was for use in my newly installed radiant heat system (addition) and the second was installed on my older existing cast iron radiator system.
The new radiant heating system can now be controlled to perfection.
The older system is much more efficient and we no longer have "spikes" in the heating cycle. We are also protected from shocking the boiler with a surge of cold water into the return.
While the RMB's can be expensive, I am now heating a larger area for a lesser cost and doing it much more efficiently with the same(existing) boiler!

I am working on a Taco RMB-1, The bottom circulator has a bad electro maginet ( the black can that the cartridge sits in ) where do I get the part, what is the part # ?

The circulators in this device are regular Taco 006 type. Just use the same circulators and repair kits for the 006 type circulator. I seriously doubt the magnet is to blame. Just get the repair cartridge and it should fix the problem.

                Q:

I am currently using a Takagi TK-3 tankless water heater to heat my basement slab and to supply my DHW. It's a closed system with a HX separating the two. I am getting ready to add another manifold to heat the upstairs. Would this RMB be useful for this application?

                  A:

The pump in the RMB is a Taco 008, as long as that pump can handle the GPM and head pressure of the system, yes you can use it.
