In my first review, We had just the first one installed (see previous review and pictures). I also stated based on "actual operating conditions" we would need a second unit and that Laclede Gas Company would be upgrading our meter to 400,000 BTU.An exact analysis was done to determine the maximum possible BTU burn with all appliances in our home (Furnace, Gas Cook-top, Gas Dryer & Two Tankless Systems). Our burn rate could exceed 700,000 BTU/hour. Based on these findings, our Natural Gas Service Line was replaced with a 1 inch PSI line vs. the WC line we had before (WC = Water Column Inches; form of measurement for Natural Gas). We have a new meter with this service with two lines going into the home. The "original" line is for all the appliances except the new T-H2-DV Tankless Systems. The original line has an "Inches to WC" pressure regulator mounted outside the home on the Gas meter. The second line is 3/4 black pipe but is under a constant 2 PSI to the two Tankless Units. There are then 2 Maxtrol 325-5AL inches to WC pressure regulators; one for each unit (see new photos). Important to note: Laclede Gas Company did not charge one red cent for the upgraded service line or new meter! They included the outside Maxtrol Inches to WC pressure regulator and I bought the two for inside the home. I spent just over $100 for both. MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THESE REGULATORS THAT ARE NON-VENTED IF THEY ARE INSIDE YOUR HOME!Ok, so how do the two systems work? Awesome! When high demand is needed, both systems fire up and provide as much as 12 GPM at 185 degrees. We need this very high temperature for "virus" kill. The T-H2-DV comes with an "easy link" cable with each unit so the units can "communicate" when linked together. I inquired about a longer "easy link" cable as my units would be spaced too far apart for one cable in addition to running the cable within conduit. I ended up splicing the two cables which gave me plenty of length. There are only two 18G wires so splicing was not an issue and the two wires are of different color so no worry about cross connection.It's interesting to note that when only one unit is needed, they alternate use. Therefore, I won't worry about one unit being used more than another.Great product [...]Install time for second unit with modifications to the gas line and plumbing was under 8 hours.

It has been 3 weeks I have installed the T-H2-DV-LP TAKAGI TANKLESS WATER HEATER and it has beeen working great. I have not seen the Propane bill yet so no clue how much energy savings I got from changing the old tank heater to tankless heater.

We live in the midwest. It's January and our inlet water temperature is 42 degrees. Based on actual running conditions, we really need two units and have since ordered the second unit to increase our flow rate. We can adequately run the shower, dishwasher and washing machine at the same time and have very good hot water! However, to fill our Jacuzzi tub at a good rate, we need the second unit.

We have had our gas meter outside upgraded to 400,000 BTU per hour whereas we had 1/2 of that before. The utility company did not charge us for the upgrade. If you don't have a water softener and you have hard water issues, make sure you protect your investment with a softener so you won't have a shortened life from your tankless system.

We also purchased the temperature controller so we could run the temperature of the water up to 185 degrees to kill virus's should the kids get colds or the flu when washing the dishes. My wife also uses this setting for very hot water for the washing machine. Works great with the high efficiency washing machine units. If you don't get the remote controller the temperature is factory set at 125 degrees. If you do get the controller, the instructions are with the controller how to set the temperature availability up to 185 degrees. The programming is done at the remote controller and not the dip switches on the T-H2-DV.

The isolation valve kits are a must if you need to service the unit, such as cleaning out the cold water inlet filter. Without these valves, you would have to turn off the water to the whole home. Not smart idea. Good choice in doing this and it makes for a cleaner install.

We also got a concentric vent termination kit (TH-CVPC33) which is three inch PVC kit so it has a clean look outside. It has such a nice look, we are looking at seeing if this kit will also work on our high efficency furnace so we can have a more uniform look on the side of our home.

All in all, a great product! We did our homework. Takagi is the best of the best and if you are looking at running more than one unit, you can hook up to four units to get flow rates into the 30 gpm range of endless hot water.

PS.. I'm not a plumber or electrician. I can do remodeling and I did the install myself with the help of my son in one afternoon. If you have to get this installed, get several bids and diagrams of how they will do the plumbing, gas and exhaust. Keep in mind if you want to add another unit later, make sure they account for that in the install.
