Comments about Tekmar Boiler Control - One Stage Boiler & DHW:

I have a five zone (two radiant floor, 3 cast iron radiator) system on newer non-condensing Utica gas boiler and had a problem with the house overheating. After t-stat stopped calling for heat and zones and boiler shut off the house would still build about to about 10 degrees over t-stat setting (this was at 160 degree water temp). Lowering boiler temp to solved problem but on cold days house was too cold! Tekmar 260 solved the problem! My only wish was that it had an relay for 120volt power connected to the warm weather shutdown feature that could be used to power my zone circulators. Tekmar's only solution for zoning is the more expensive TN4 system with multiple add on cards. I added my own WWSD for the zone circulators with a RANCO temp relay. Overall, the 260 is great and very smart. Not sure about savings because I had also added a zone in the basement but gas bills seem to be about same or little less that previous years. System is a true primary-secondary, three zone circulators (one with three zone valves for radiator zones) with boiler by-pass loop. I do not use the indirect domestic water heater feature but piped it for future use.

I had this unit installed in my 8 unit apt bldg, to use on HW Boiler...after 1 year, my bal. billing went from $420, to $275/month. A great savings due to less usage. Installing them on all my buildings.

The Tekmar 260 was easy to install and the directions to do so were very good. It is a good looking control and easily mountable. I still have to see how it works with my existing boiler controls during the winter months.

The Tekmar 260 control is a boiler control, not a tankless water heater control. It will not work with a tankless water heater.

The temperature sensor can not be adjusted, as it simply reads the outside temperature. If the readings are not accurate, it could be that the sensor is defective, the wiring of the unit is incorrect, or the sensor is not placed in the right location. It should be situated on the north side of the house without exposure to direct sunlight, otherwise the readings could be incorrect.
