ThermaPex tubing saved me quite a bit of money but still seems to be the same quality of their competitor. I would recommend Pex Supply to anyone looking to purchase hydronic supplies.

Installer Friendly Pex

By Mid-Michigan Ron

from Winn, MI

Verified Buyer

Comments about 3/4" ThermaPEX Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing - (300 ft. coil):

I used this pex for the majority of a major dydronic revamp and it worked great. It was easy to straighten and install. Lots of fittings and every one sealed the first time. I had to buy a short piece locally to finish the job and wished I had not run short. The local pex was extremely stiff and hard to work with.

Comments about 1/2" ThermaPEX Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing - (500 ft. coil):

After having used other brands and types of pex for plumbing I was skeptical that this heating pex would be so flexible and easy to work with. It definitely exceeded my expectations.

- For infloor heating. Was adequately flexable for installation. Used a 4" ABS (Sewar Pipe) installed in a doorway as an "spindle" to unroll the roll.

Comments about 1/2" ThermaPEX Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing - (1200 ft. coil):

Product lives up to its specifications. It was easy to work with and is similar to other higher priced Pex A pipe. I have used this for years without issue and I have used a similar best of breed product interchangeably. I haven't had any issues.

  • 1/2" ThermaPEX Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing - (300 ft. coil)

    Q:

I was installing this tubing using the joist track panels under my kitchen floor. I accidently kinked the tubing. Although I released the pressure, there still appears to be a kink in the tubing. I'm worried about restricting water flow. Is it ok to cut the tubing and crimp a pex coupling at the place it kinked?
Asked on 11/30/2011 by Luke from Richmond, VA

    2 answers

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

You can cut the tubing and put in a fitting, but a more desirable solution would be to heat the PEX tubing with a heat gun. Doing so would restore the PEX to its original shape and is most effective with PEX-A tubing.

Answered on 12/2/2011 by PexSupply Staff from NY
    • A:

You should be able to repair it at described. I was able to find a few instances for repairing kinked tubing was successful.

    Q:

I have a box of 3/4" AquaPEX (No Oxygen Barrier) and need to run about 40-50 ft to add another heater to my wood boiler system, Would this pipe work or should I just buy some ThermaPEX to do the job ??

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The AquaPEX would be fine if you have an open system. If you have a closed system, you should use ThermaPEX or hePEX to prevent the rusting of ferrous system components.

    Q:

Is there information about running cold water through radiant ( joist) floor system
for the purpose of cooling during the summer?
Asked on 9/20/2011 by Jamie from South Hadley, MA

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

That type of information is generally available only in HVAC textbooks.

Answered on 9/23/2011 by PexSupply Staff from NY
    • A:

Air conditioning isn't all about cooling, you need the dehumidification as well. Running cold water through the pipes in the summer will act like a beer can in the summer "SWEAT". Chances are your ceiling will become water stained due to the humidity in the air and drip all over, which in turn will result in mold.

    Q:

Does the O2 barrier require that I use a stainless or brass pump in place of a cast iron? I'll be pushing 30% glycol.
Asked on 9/8/2011 by ItsRoy from Colorado

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The oxygen barrier negates the need for a stainless steel or brass pump in closed systems.
