Description for Watts 0004646

The Watts IntelliFlow® Automatic Washing Machine Shutoff Valve uses a state-of-the-art electronic control device that senses the washing machine current flow. When the washing machine is turned on, the controls detect the current flow to the washer, opening both hot and cold water inlet valves to allow water to flow to the washing machine. When the washing machine completes the full cycle the device senses the lack of current and closes the water inlet valves. These valves remain closed until the machine is used again. The IntelliFlow®'s automatic operation and floor mounted leak sensor protect against catastrophic water damage should a washing machine inlet hose burst while the machine is in use or unattended.

Features:

  • Easy installation
  • Silent reliable operation
  • Replaceable internal strainer screen
  • The new Intelliflow® Models A2C-M1 and A2C-WB-M1 also include a leak sensor. The water sensor is placed on the floor behind the washing machine. Upon detection of water at the sensor, the IntelliFlow® automatically shuts off the water supply to the washing machine. This provides an additional level of security, should a hose burst while the washing machine is in operation. (Image #2 depicts leak sensor)

Don't leave home without one

Comments about Watts A2C-WB, IntelliFlow Automatic Washing Machine Water Shutoff Valve w/ Leak Sensor:

I sweated pex fittings on the brass stub outs after disconnecting the control unit. No problems. I don't think there are any user replacement seals or parts other than o ring if it becomes defective. I installed two 1/2" pex ball valves lower in the wall with an access cover if I ever have to order a replacement unit. The unit will unscrew and swap out no problem. I am selling this house and planning to install one in my next house. I am thinking of using a one plug surge arrestor since it is a fairly complex electronic device. I am also researching similar devices to prevent my water heater from causing a flood. If you have a gas water heater the device needs to shut off not only the water but the gas also.

Excellent solution! I will use again...

Comments about Watts A2C-WB, IntelliFlow Automatic Washing Machine Water Shutoff Valve w/ Leak Sensor:

Moving laundry room from a closet to a new utility/mudroom. First unit received had poorly cut threads on water connection. Plumbing fittings would not go on. Had to sweat fittings instead. Test your fittings before you cut the water lines. After installation, unit did not work properly. Customer support from Pex Supply was excellent. Return/exchange process was efficient. Control head can be swapped without pulling the box, so re-installation was a snap. New unit works flawlessly. If you have ever seen the damage that a busted hose or leaky machine can cause, you understand why it is so important to install a product like this. If you have not, I hope you don't learn the hard way.

Comments about Watts A2C-WB, IntelliFlow Automatic Washing Machine Water Shutoff Valve w/ Leak Sensor:

It works as advertized. the only drawback is if you need cold water supply for the dryer too. I have a dryer with a steam function and I had to connect the dryer to a different cold water supply.

  • Q:

My washer has power on the display even when the washer is not in use. How does this valve know when the wash cycle is beginning or ending with washers that have power to the display at all times?

      A:

According to the manufacturer, the A2C is calibrated to a full current draw. When the washer cycle has begun, the intelliflow senses the increased current and energizes the solenoid valve to allow a fill cycle to begin.

      A:

If the display draws just a little electricity then the valve is off. when the washer draws more electricity then the valve opens. The issue if how much electricity is drawn when the display is on. that would depend on the washer. I have a Whirlpool and when the disply is on the valve is off.

    • A:

The unit has a calibration process that measures no electricity, the electricity of your washer standing by, and on full cycle. After calibration the unit takes over.

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

The calibration process described in the product instructions (see mfg website for pdf version) explains that the unit determines the standby power draw of the machine during the process and adjusts itself accordingly. When the power draw exceeds the baseline draw, the valves open. My machine always has a power draw, but after calibration of the IntelliFlow, the valves only open when the machine is working and close as soon as the cycle finishes.

  • Q:

What kind of Valve, (ball), and do you make a single for Steam Dryers.

      A:

Watts does not make a single unit. The valve is an electronic valve.
