                  A:

This boiler would give you 60 BTUs per square foot, which should be more than enough in a home with normal insulation (even in the cold climate of Syracuse). A heat-loss calculation would give you a precise BTU requirement, but you can always use our calculator to get an estimate: http://www.pexsupply.com/pex/control/BTUCalculator

                Q:

My home is a tuck-under rambler with 1256 SQ. feet on the upper floor and 650 sq. feet heated in the basement. The remaining portion of the lower level is a two stall garage [unheated]. If this unit is large enough, can it be fitted with a spark ignition system? If neither apply, which unit do you recommend?

                  A:

Based on your location and the square footage of the the house, we believe this boiler will be too small. The other key factors that go into sizing a boiler are the type of heating system you have and the heat loss of your house. Our BTU calculator ( http://www.pexsupply.com/pex/control/BTUCalculator ) is a great tool to get a rough estimate on the BTU output you will need. To get an even more accurate idea, it may be wise to perform a heat loss evaluation. Taking these steps now will ensure that you buy a boiler that is big enough to keep you warm all the time, but not so big that you end up wasting energy.

                  A:

This boiler would heat approximately 1,000-1,500 ft. The boiler's efficiency depends on your location as well as a heat loss that can be done on the house by any certified installer.
