I wanted an easy upgrade from my non-programmable thermostat, a White-Rodgers 70 Series model 1F78-144.

The programmable White-Rodgers 70 Series model 1F78-151 has the exact wiring as the 1F78-144 (even matched the existing mounting holes in the wall).

The 1F78-151 has accurate temperature readings (I compared it with a digital thermometer), cycles on at the proper times and off at the programmed temperatures.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have a three zone hot water heating system and forced air cooling system in a 50 year old home. Our main thermostat (1 heating zone, cooling) is a White Rodgers and has been very reliable and easy to use. The purchased thermostat replaced one of the heating zone t-stats. Easy to program, install, and wire.

The product was easy enough to install, but I'd definitely recommend letting someone who knows what they are doing install it.

The programmable thermostat works great and is a very easy way to save money by having it turn off when not in use. Set it, and forget it. Worth the investment for sure.

      A:

      You can configure the backlight to turn on after any button is pressed. To do this, press the "Time" and "Run" buttons simultaneously, and use the arrows to change the "off" that appears on the screen to "on."

      If a voltage spike or static discharge blanks out the display or
      causes erratic thermostat operation you can reset the thermostat
      by pressing , Up arrow, Down Arrow, and TIME at the same time. This also resets
      the factory defaults.

      You need to pull the cover gently straight off the base. Forcing or prying on the thermostat will cause damage to the unit.
