Outstanding product!

Comments about White Rodgers 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

It just works! With a 3 wire hydronic zone heating system the choices are limited... however at least this device is easy to setup, does what it should, and handily beats common programmable thermostats in every other way. Now that I know- I would use this device in any system! I also setup one of these to control a heat zone and a "common" AC system (turned out to be simple to wire)- works flawlessly.

Comments about White Rodgers 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

I have 2 other White Rodgers thermostats that are a few years old and have been very satisfied. I needed another one and didn't hesitate to buy another White Rodgers. I find the "hold button" very useful to keep a fixed temperature without having to change the program that had been preset. Touchscreen very easy to use and I like the blue light.

Great for 3 wire hot water heat

Comments about White Rodgers 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

Very easy to wire, setup and use. Display is very clear. I used it for my hydronic heat system that requires a signal to turn the water valve off when heating cycle is done - can't find these at the big box stores...Highly recommend.

Works Very Well

Comments about White Rodgers 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

I tried a different brand of t-stat that didn't operate the valves on my furnace correctly. The valves I have are manufactured by White Rodgers and the Honeywell programmable didn't work correctly. So I installed these two weeks ago on two zones (each with a separate valve) and haven't had a problem. Most of the heating contractors I spoke with didn't think there should be any difference in operation between brands, but this model worked for me.

Comments about White Rodgers 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Blue Digital Thermostat:

Works well but the default setting makes the ac turn on and off too often, you need to go into the set up and adjust the temp offset. It also makes two pretty loud clicks when when the ac turns on and off.

    Q:

    Can i replace 1f90-51 with 1f80-0471? I know its a 80 series replacing a 90 series. Thank you
Asked on 11/15/2011 by Anonymous from southern IL

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

White Rodgers recommends 1F97-1277 as the replacement, but 1F80-0471 is a also a single-stage, 2-wire thermostat. We see no reason why it wouldn't also work.

    Q:

I'm looking to replace my current White-Rodgers IF80-261. I've been told that this model (IF80-0471) is compatable or transferrable with the current hard wires for installation. Is this true? Please advise.
Asked on 10/18/2011 by Anonymous from Sacramento, CA

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

1F80-0471 is the manufacturer's suggested replacement for 1F80-261. The wiring should be similar, but we could not say for sure whether it's exactly the same.

    Q:

Would this go with an automag zone valve system that is 3 wire for a oil boiler hot water heating system?
Asked on 9/13/2011 by Engineer from Johnstown, Pa

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

The thermostat would not be wired directly to the zone valves. You would need to wire it to a zone valve controller.

    Q:

My 1F80-0471 is connected for battery power only, wired per White-Rodgers customer support. The backlight appears to go on briefly when the thermostat calls for heat. No mention of this in owner's manual. Is this normal?
Asked on 1/22/2011 by earphone from massachusetts

    • A:

Ours does this as well, and I don't think it's suppose to. You're right, there is nothing in the owner's manual about this, which tells me it is NOT something normal or it would be mentioned. I'm really not satisfied with the answer that the manufacturer says 'this is not cause for concern', yet doesn't explain the reason why it's doing it. That tells me they don't know why. Ours was put in by the people who installed our new furnace three days ago, and the thermostat has been doing this since day one. I did try calling the customer service number given in the owner's manual, and after a few rings it just disconnects. I am not happy with this thermostat or with the so-called 'customer service'. Anyone out there know a little bit more than the company and can shed some light on this?

Answered on 2/14/2012 by spicer from mi
    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

According to the manufacturer, this should not be a cause for concern.
