This model was installed when my old programmable model gave out. Although I like the extra settings for Saturday and Sunday, the audible *CLICK* that indicates climate change is needed is able to be heard 30-40 feet away and wakes me up all night long! I even moved into the back bedroom but that didn't help. Anyone else have this problem?

Much better than the Honeywell programmable I replaced this one with. This one is very user friendly in programming and adjusting. It seems to keep the house a more consistent temperature.

The thermostat was easy to replace, The information that came with the new thermostat was easy to understand. After looking at the previous thermostat I was able to wire the new one with the same connections previously used. It has a display that is easy to read and programs in the same manner as the previous thermostat.

Affordable and Versatile

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Digital Thermostat:

We already had one of these installed by our HVAC contractor with our new system. I like its simplicity. The South end of the house gets very hot in the summer, so I purchased this to install on that end. Being identical to the current unit, it was very simple to mount it on the wall in the South room and wire it in parallel with the original unit in the home center. Now, if either zone gets too hot, the air conditioner will turn on. We will close some vents in the North end to keep it from getting too cold there.

Easy-to-Use (and install) Thermostat

Comments about 80 Series Programmable, 1H/1C, Digital Thermostat:

I've seen many programmable thermostats. This one is so easy to use, at a place that I frequent, I figured it out without reading the instructions. So when it came time to buy one for my house this is what I got. Turns out its easy to install too. And White-Rodgers is high quality. Best of all PexSupply had the best price, [...]! Thanks. (Oh by the way, I figure switching from an old mercury bulb thermostat to this programmable one has saved us at least several hundred dollars a year in heat and a/c bills!)

Our house has two heating/cooling systems. The upstairs system already had this model of thermostat but I needed to replace the old mercury switch thermostat downstairs. [...] I installed the thermostat and it performed exactly as expected. I am very happy with this product.

To change between Fahrenheit and Celsius, press RUN, then press RUN and PRGM at the same time. This takes you to the Configuration Menu. Keep pressing HOLD until you advance to Step 8. This step allows you to select either Fahrenheit or Celsius temperature display using the up and down arrows. Step 8 is the last step in the menu. Press RUN to return to normal operation.

    Q:

How do you delete programmed settings and just use manual operations? I do not want the thermostat to run on any previous;y set programs, but rather run according to manual settings
    Asked on 4/22/2012 by eliz

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

You can't delete the programmed settings, but you can use the Hold Mode to operate manually for an indefinite period. Press the hold button before setting your desired temperature and press 'run' to return to programmed operation (at which point you can enter hold mode again for a different temperature).

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

As far as I know you can not delete the programmed settings but you can manually adjust the temperature up or down anytime you want. You can also just use the "hold" mode to maintain a set temperature indefinitely and just change the hold temperature whenever you want which effectively bypasses the programmed settings.

No screws. Squeeze both sides gently and pull straight out. If the cover sticks a little, use a finger on your other hand to pull on the lower left corner of the cover.

      Hi,
I presume the thermostat has not been installed. There is a crevice
on the top side of the device as shown. Using fingernails pull front
of the device away from the back revealing the battery chamber at the
top which should have 2 AA batteries in series with + poles to the
left. Line up buttons on back with button holes on front and squeeze
      the 2 halves together. Voila!
To remove the backside (battery chamber) from the wall, the screws
are apparent when you take off the front.

Are your talking about a White-Rogers 1F80-XXX style thermostat? If so,
the batteries provide power to the thermostat; the batteries are not meant
to be disconnected. For further clarification, call White-Rogers.

    Q:

Is it possible to set a White Rogers 1F80-361 thermostat on hold for a time period of over a month? IE: 58 degrees until I return from a Florida trip.
If this is possible would you advise me as how to do it exactly. The old one that I am now using can be set on hold for a long period of time but my neighbor has a 1F80-361 which I like but I want to make sure that it suits my needs before I purchase one. Thanks, Dennis Kievit

It does not seem that it does. The manual does not list any sort of available security features that would allow locking out the unauthorized users.
