Works as designed

Comments about ProPEX Ring with Stop 3/4" (blue print):

Pretty straight forward. As long as you put it all the way down on the pipe until it stops, you can't possibly mess it up. Make sure pipe is cut squarely.

a MUST have for propex

Comments about Uponor (Wirsbo) ProPEX Ring with Stop 1/2" (blue print):

You must use these rings when using proper fittings. The newer rings have a stop built in which prevents the ring from sliding up the pipe during the stretching process, a welcomed change.

With the blue print on the pex ring, it eliminates mistaking which water line I'm working with.

The red and blue printing can be used to indicated hot and cold supply
when using pex that is NOT red and blue.

      A:

There is absolutely no difference between the red blue or black printed
expansion rings. The red and blue ones are used to differentiate between
the hot and cold lines on a white or single color pipe used for everything.

      A:

There is no functional difference. Uponor is phasing out the colored rings (which can be used to differentiate hot and cold lines) and will only offer black-print rings going forward. Stops are meaningful difference between ProPEX rings of the same size. Rings with stops make it easy to know exactly how far the ring should go on to the tubing.

what type of tool do i use for installation?

      A:

Only one side of these rings will slip over the Uponor or Aquapex pipe. You then need an expander tool that slips into the end of the pipe and you then expand the pipe and ring together. The expander tool has a tapered head so you can gradually expand the pipe/ring combo until fully expanded. Withdraw the expander tool, quickly insert your fitting (elbow, tee, etc.) and hold for a few seconds while the pipe/ring shrink back down over the fitting.

      A:

ProPEX rings work with PEX-A tubing, ProPEX fittings, and an expansion tool (such as the Milwaukee 2432-22 kit).

      A:

The stops make it easier to place the ProPEX ring in the proper spot over the PEX tubing prior to making the expansion.
