Creating multiple zones improves efficiency and occupant comfort in a home. For example, the main floor of a house may be served by one heating zone while the upstairs bedrooms are served by another. In this situation, heat can be directed primarily to the main floor during the day and to the upstairs bedrooms at night. This allows the unoccupied areas to cool down when vacant.
